China needs women!

"China, with 1.3 billion people, is the world's most populous country. Even though the government imposed a policy of one child per family 30 years ago, it began allowing more families to have a second child because of another looming crisis - the largest elderly population in China's history is expected to peak in about 20 years. And there's another crisis that will be felt in less than 20 years: the shortage of young Chinese women. "-- VOA news service.

There are 13 million more young boys in China, than girls. In 2020, not too very long from now, there will be 40 million men with no one to marry.

How did this happen?

Well, in a society, that sees boys as economic security, and girls, as chaff, where you were only allowed by law to have one child. Often female children were aborted, in favor of perpetuating the dynasty. Many were abandoned to orphanages. The Chinese Population and Family Planning Commission, are beginning to consider lifting the one child ban.

A society can afford to lose men. Lots of men. This is not to say their lives are less valuable, but it is to say that since women don't have litters, and men can impregnate more than one woman, and there is a percentage of women that are not fertile, or that can die in childbirth, particularly in rural areas, where there is a scarcity of modern health care. Without women, a community cannot survive.

Chinese officials have seen an increase in abduction and sale of young women, and while it is not clear that this is connected, it is a concern. However, women are abducted, or sold by their families all the time in a lot of places in the world.

All news media is now "officially" evil

I try to watch the news, and now, I just read it off the net. I can no longer stomach, hour after hour of the same useless, sensationalized dog crap. So and so is missing, we think we found one of her hairs stuck to a tree with nail glue, her brand of nail glue, was she trying to send a message? I am not sending any of my kids on vacation to a foreign country when they are 18. As far as I am concerned they should feel fortunate to get to walk to the market unaccompanied.

The war is starting to bore me. Not bore me in the way that I am apathetic to those involved, but bored in the way that we just get too much detail. I do not care how many M.R.E's Sgt. Smith has consumed before he got the care package from his family full of Jolly Ranchers.

I do not think the war was a good idea to begin with, but we are in it and that is that. And just as sick as I am of seeing yellow ribbons on all the cars, I am more sick of listening to liberals whine about it, and I do think it has a demoralizing effect on the troops.

I look at the Middle East and all I see is a big morass of control freaks, all jockeying for power in the most profitable grab for control of vast natural resources in history.

I find myself watching more and more movies, thank God for Netflix.

The Revenge of the Sith

Sucked, it did!

I will say a few positive things about this movie. Special effects were fabulous. Shame it is no subsitute for an even halfway interesting script. The acting, was wooden close to the point of buffoonery, I blame this on the director. He had some really amazing actors at his disposal, and he frittered them away, making them charicatures of themselves.

It was good, in the same way that "Waterworld" was good, after you saw "The Postman," or "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves." Perhaps if we had gotten to see any of the male characters on a planet where they were forced by custom to remain naked at all times, it would have been more interesting. Except for Yoda, I would prefer he remain clothed. Nothing personal intended if you are a tiny sort of green guy.

And speaking of Yoda, he made me laugh uncontrollably every time he came on screen. Sadly, I do not think this was the director's intent.

The best part of this movie, was when I went to the restroom, and the only other people in the theater, were having sex. I admire his courage, to kneel there upon the sticky, soda encrusted floor, to orally please his female companion. I should have gotten his number on the way out.

The new, improved blog, now with sarcasm

Starting the new blog today, I felt like I wanted to start anew and shake off the past like a too tight skin. Also, I was sick of looking at the old ones.

Now, all that remains is thinking up something reasonably creative. Great. Give myself more pressure.

The end of my last relationship, has given me ample time to consider the entire issue of trust. I am leaning towards a very "why bother" attitude.

My ugly brush with my mortality, compelled me to take a closer look at it, and as I searched, I found that whatever I am, it is not enough. Oh well. C'est la vie.
